Services for W. Aileen Quackenbush, 89, will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 10 AM at HarperTalasek Funeral Home with Carol Robinson officiating.
W. Aileen Duncan Quackenbush of Harker Heights, TX passed away on December 29, 2014.
Aileen was born on June 22, 1925 in Killeen TX to Luther Vasco and Cleo Beatrice May Duncan of Maxdale, TX. From 1943 to 1948 she worked at Camp Hood as the manager of the Ice Cream Bar on the installation.
She married Carl Quackenbush on June 22, 1947 and in 1948 moved to Warwick, New York upon Carls discharge from the US Army. In addition to raising her three children, she worked at the Warwick Fashions Sewing Factory from 1961 to 1976 and in the Warwick School System from 1982 1988. She and Carl retired to Killeen, TX in December 1988. She was active in the Bellvale United Methodist Church, Bellvale NY for 40 years and became a member of the Harker Heights United Methodist Church while she lived in Harker Heights.
Mrs. Quackenbush was a dedicated supporter of the Historical Society of Warwick, NY for over 50 years.
She is survived by her brother, Stacey Noble Duncan, her son, Jim Quackenbush of Schenectady, New York, and her two daughters, Sheila Griffith of Killeen and Carleen Krieger of Harker Heights. Aileen had 5 grandchildren, 7 greatgrandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Aileen was preceded in death by four brothers, Billy Ray Duncan, Luther Ervin Duncan, Jimmy Darrell Duncan, and L.C. Duncan as well as her husband, Carl Quackenbush.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 2, 2015 from 68 PM at HarperTalasek Funeral Home Chapel
