Mr. Hatfield died peacefully at his home on Monday, March 14, 2016. He was born September 3, 1941 in Varney, WV to the late George and Leatha Hatfield.
He proudly served his country as a lineman in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as well as in Korea and Germany. He retired in 1979 after 20 years of military service, and declared Texas his permanent home. He then worked locally with building materials as a forklift operator until his second retirement in 2007.
To keep himself busy once retired, he spent time collecting coins, trying out new recipes, connecting with friends and family through Facebook, and spoiling his wife, daughter, and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and Roger Hatfield; and two sisters, Helen Lambert and Ada Perkins.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Chun; a daughter, Tina Hatfield and her husband Brian Bonner of Killeen; two very special grandchildren, Brianna Hatfield and Braden Bonner also of Killeen; a brother David (Ann) Hatfield of Copperas Cove; two sisters, Rosie (Ron) Kientz of Pittsburgh, PA and Barbara Long of Varney, WV; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express appreciation to the nursing and physician staff at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Medical Center and McClinton Cancer Center in Waco as well as the staff of Hospice Compassus in Killeen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
