Funeral services for Wayne E. Havens, 82, of Killeen will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen. Burial will follow at Killeen Memorial Park with Jack Husung officiating.

Mr. Havens passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at a local care facility.

Wayne was born in Lott, Texas on August 11, 1933 to the late Jesse Truman and Nellie Mae (Ratliff) Havens. He was raised in the area and attended Salado schools. He entered the US Air Force and served 9 years. During his time in the Air Force he was stationed in Iceland and Bermuda before he was honorably discharged. He also served in the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Louise Parrish in Killeen in 1952. She preceded him in death in 2002. Wayne worked for the City of Killeen Street Department for 33 years and retired as Director of Street Services. Wayne was an avid fisherman and hunter and he loved baseball. He shared his love of baseball by coaching little league for many years. Most of all he loved spending time with his family; he was the model family man and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory are 2 sons, Randy Havens of Dallas and Rick Havens (Sonja) of Killeen; 1 sister, Barbara Shroyer of Killeen; 1 sister-in-law, Ida Belle Havens of Killeen; grandchildren, Shanna Havens Dunn (Toby), Amy Havens, Cameron Havens (Melissa), Kelli Kelley (Chase), and Kyle Havens; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Havens and Peyton Kelley. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Billy E. Havens; and a sister, Arnell Walker.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the funeral home.
