West Boyd JR, 62, of Killeen, died November 28, 2014, in Temple, Texas. He was born in Virginia on July 19, 1952 to the late West and Clorine Boyd. West graduated High School in Maryland. He later joined the US Army at the age of 25, during which time he received the Army Commendation Medal w2 Oak leaf clusters Army Achievement Medal Good Conduct Medal sixth award Humanitarian Service Medal National Defense Service Medal w1 bronze star Southwest Asia Service Medal w3 bronze stars Kuwait Liberation Medal NCO Professional Development RibbonNumeral 3 Army Service Ribbon Overseas Service Ribbon numeral 4 Air Assault Badge Driver and Mechanic Badge w driver bar Expert Badge wrifle and machinegun. After his retirement in 1993 he went to work for the K.I.S.D as a logistics technican and retired from there in 2013. West married Dora Ann Massey on September 9, 1977 and this union was then blessed with six children: Dana Ambush, Baltimore, MD John R. Lightner JR and his wife Tina, Killeen Latanya Ann BoydKing, Killeen Charice A. Boyd, Killeen Nicholes D. Boyd, Killeen Demetria A. Boyd and her husband Devonte. He further survived by his brothers Maurice Boyd, Baltimore, MD Cornelius Crockett, North Carolina and sister Teresa Boyd, Baltimore nine grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren. He was a member of the VFW post 9191 in Killeen. West was a loving and good provider for his family, and helpful friend to many others.
