Services for William Charles Bill Johnson, 65, of Austin, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen with the Rev. John C. Johnson and Pastor Keith Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow at Killeen City Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson died Oct. 13, 2013, in Austin. He was born Sept. 21, 1948, and had lived in Austin most of his adult life. He was retired from the University of Texas.
Before his recent illness, Mr. Johnson worked as an election clerk at polling places in Austin for many years. He was an active supporter for the rights of blind and disabled people, and he supported many organizations, including groups for people with head injuries.
His main endeavors were as a loving husband, who looked after and encouraged his wife, Cathy.
He graduated from Killeen High School in 1966, and attended Central Texas College before moving to Austin.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Laura Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy Johnson of Austin his brother, Jim Johnson of Beaumont three sisters, Judy Cisneros of San Antonio, Betty Roberts of Denton and Carol Johnson of Fort Worth and several nieces and nephews.
