William Robert Pilkey passed away at home on December 13, 2015 in Belton, Texas, at the age of 71, after a short illness of acute myeloid leukemia. He was surrounded by his family at his passing.
Most people knew him by his nickname, Bob, the son of Jessie Aleck Pilkey and Edith Juanita Hope Pilkey. He was born on November 15, 1944 in Meigs County, TN, a day that had been anxiously awaited by his siblings at home.....Affena (Cal) Roberts, Iva Martin, and Jack (Brenda) Pilkey. He later became the older brother of Fran (LaVar) Leonhardt, Larry (Chris) and Wayne ( Giuliana) Pilkey. After his parents divorced and remarried, he added six more brothers....Paul Jr., and Todd (Dawn) Watson, Johnny ( Tonya), Randy (Tama). Ronnie ( Paula), and Danny (Tiffany) Pilkey. Bob was adored by his parents, his siblings, children and grandchildren, and he had special relationships with each one of them.
Bob married Terry Fletcher and they became parents to two children, Bob Jr (Ann) Pilkey and Michele(Terry) Pilkey Pfarr. Bob and Terry divorced and he later married Jo Ann Kornegay. Bob and Joann became parents to one son, Kenneth (Janet) Pilkey. Bob was blessed with eight grandchilden.....Amy and Grace Pfarr, Alesia, Sara, and Abby Pilkey, and Cinch, Ariel and Sierra Grace Pilkey.
Bob was known for his fun sense of humor and could entertain for hours with his story telling. He had that unique talent of making people of all ages feel they were #1 in his life, which they were. He was a man that was easy to love as he cared about people and the issues that impacted their lives. Bob will be dearly missed.
Bob loved to work. His work ethic was unparalleled as he worked from sun up to sundown right up to when he became ill three months ago. No job was too small or too big, and he delighted in a job well done. Some of the jobs that he held during the years include serving with distinction as the Director of Job Corps in Massachusetts and on the police force in Cameron, Texas where he served with valor as he risk his life to save others.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Aleck Pilkey, his stepfather Paul Watson Sr, and his sister Affena Pilkey Foulk. He is survived by his mother, Edith Juanita Watson, his two sisters Iva and Fran, all nine of his brothers, his fiancee Phyllis Chrisman, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
