William Thompson

Services for William R. Thompson, 81, of Kansas City, Mo, will be Monday at Harper-Talasek Chapel with Chaplain Karl Bunjes officiating.

Mr. Thompson went to be with the Lord, November 18, 2009. He was born and educated in Cherryvale, KS. William joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 16. When he became of age he joined the US Army and served as a MP for four years. Upon his release he went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad where before his retirement after 38 years he had attained Chief Clerk. An avid golfer he never missed a day on a course.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his daughters, Melissa S. Dietzman, Killeen, TX; Paula L. Capps, Kansas City MO; sister, Bonnie Shaffer, Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
