William (Bill) J. Fornes, 83, of Killeen, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022. A memorial service with military honors will be held Wednesday, August 31 at the Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery beginning at 2 pm.
Bill was born on June 5, 1939, in Irwin, PA. He grew up racing motocross, a passion he was able to share with his grandson, Cody. One day after Bill’s 17th birthday, he enlisted in the United States Army. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer three in August of 1981. Through his military career he found a love of flying and became a Master Aviator and a Pilot Instructor.
After retiring from his military career, he spent much of his time training Cody for motocross and was out at the track until his health forced him to step away. Bill also loved to golf with his best buds; Ernie, Chuck, and Mike, and he will continue to spend his days golfing in Heaven’s Golf Course now.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Finner Fornes and Edna Bell Ondrusek, and granddaughter, Krystall Lynn.
Bill is survived by his son, Darryl Fornes; daughters, Karen Kipp and Kellie Fornes; and grandchildren, Cody Kipp, Destiny Barkett and David Kipp.
