Willie Adams, Jr.

Services for Willie Louis Adams Jr., 51, will be at noon Friday at Greater Vision Community Church in Killeen. Burial will be at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Adams died Sept. 17, 2011. He was born in Newark, N.J., on Nov. 25, 1959, to Willie Louis Sr. and Joy Mae Adams.

Willie was affectionately known as Billy to his family and close friends. Willie graduated from Essex Catholic High School in 1977. He later attended Montclair State College.

In 1985, Willie enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two tours of duty in Iraq. Willie retired from the Army in 2006. He continued to work at Fort Hood for several years.

Willie was inducted into the Freemasons and was an active member of Jno G. Lewis No. 622, Mt. Sinai Chapter No. 42, Holy Royal Arch Masons, South Central Commandery, 37th Knight Templar Masons, Nubia Temple No. 191 Shriners, Divine Glory Chapter No. 3 Order of the Eastern Star and E.L. Downing Court No. 237 Heroines of Jericho.

Willie was preceded in death by his wife, Zoraida ClarkeAdams.

Survivors include his son, Willie Louis Adams III Tre parents, Willie Louis Sr. and Joy Mae Adams of New Jersey and Aunt Margaret Bright of California siblings, Pat Penny Newsome Willie of Louisiana, Wayne D. Adams Sr. Lisa of New Jersey, Stanley F. Adams Karen of New Jersey, Yvonne D. Adams of New Jersey, Christian Adams of New Jersey, Gregory G. Adams Kim of Rhode Island and Timothy W. Adams of New Jersey, Annette Adams of New Jersey and a host of nephews and nieces.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Great Vision Community Church. HarperTalasek Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
