Willie Bates

Memorial services for Willie Henry Bates, 86, of Harker Heights, will be held on Wednesday, February 22 at 9:30 a.m. at Harper-Talasek funeral home in Killeen, Texas. Visitation for the family will begin prior to the service at 8:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at 11 a.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Bates died February 15, 2017 at a local hospital surrounded by family.
He was born September 19, 1930 in Delhi, Louisiana to the late Rosie Bates.
He was a United States Army Korean War Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Bates (Harker Heights); children Faye Carrol and husband Willie (Las Vegas), Sandra White and husband Joe (Temple), Ava Knauls and husband James (Temple), Tonja Greer (Temple), Bruce Bates (Harker Heights), Robert Hawkins and wife Christy (Killeen), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
