Services for retired Spc. Zaragoza D. Rubio, 87, of Killeen, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Killeen. Burial with full military honors will be at the Killeen City Cemetery.
Mr. Rubio died Dec. 12, 2014, in a local nursing home. He was born May 3, 1927, in Alice.
He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, until his retirement at Fort Hamilton, N.Y., in 1967. His military awards include: Good Conduct Medal 4th award National Defense Service Medal with oak leaf cluster Army of Occupation Medal, Germany World War II Victory Medal Korean Service Medal Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation Combat Infantry Badge.
Mr. Rubio moved to Killeen in the early 1950s, and worked for the Killeen City Cemetery for 10 years. He then worked for Scott White Killeen Clinic in the maintenance section. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his son, Roy S. Rubio of Killeen daughter, Nora Arreaga of Harker Heights sister, Sara Perez of Witchita Falls four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Indian Oaks Living Center Recreation Fund.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Harper Talasek Chapel in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
