Charles Wierenga

Early Monday morning, February 21, 2022, Charles (Chuck) went home to be with the Lord. Chuck had been in the VA Hospital in Temple for several months.

Chuck was born on June 5, 1961 in San Bernardino, California. He married Jeanette on July 2, 1982 and they have one son, Justin Wierenga, and two grandkids, Tucker and Elizabeth Wierenga.

Chuck professed his faith in Jesus Christ in May,1995. He was baptized in June, 1997 at First Assembly of God in Harker Heights and was a member.

Chuck served in the Army, worked as a car mechanic at Nathan's Automotive and Cleo Bay Used Cars and was also a tool truck dealer.

Chuck loved God, his family, and racing. Chuck loved playing with his grandkids and helping his son work on race cars. Chuck loved helping people.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Jeanette; son, Justin; and two grandkids, Tucker and Elizabeth; sisters, Jo Bystrom (California), Bonnie Baldwin (California), Sis (Florence) Jones (California), Pam Filipowicz (California), and Connie Gray (Texas); brothers Nick Wierenga (California), and Howard Wierenga (Minnesota); several in-laws, nephews and nieces.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents; Clarence and Florence Wierenga; two brothers, John and Ed Wierenga; and sister, Wanda Wierenga.

The family would like to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the VA Hospital in Temple.

In remembrance of Chuck's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to First Assembly of God, 1601 Harley Dr. Harker Heights, TX 76548, or to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201.

Charles Wierenga's service will be held at Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery on Thursday, March 17th at 10:00 am with Reverend David A. Starkey Jr. officiating. Chuck will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
