Connie Smith-Holmes

Connie Marie Holmes Smith, better known to those around her as "Cookie", 74, of Killeen, passed away on April 14, 2023. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 19 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Killeen beginning at 11 am. Committal and Military Honors will follow at Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery promptly at 2 pm. An evening of visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen from 5-7 pm.

Cookie was born on July 24, 1948, in Titusville, Pennsylvania to Oscar Slew Copeland and Virginia May Manuell. She spent many years serving the United States Army as both a finance specialist and a medical equipment repairer, eventually landing in Killeen, Texas in 1995, before reaching her retirement on April 30, 2001.

Connie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for her entire life. Within that time, she also joined fraternal organizations, Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile.

Left to cherish her memory are her 5 children, 15 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
