Douglas “Douggie” Elias Lape

Douglas Elias Lape, age 71 of Killeen, Texas (formerly of Inarajan, Guam) passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Dedrick Laval and Elizabeth San Nicolas Lape; brother Peter Paul Lape; sister Evelyn Asmus. Granddaughter Christalyn Elisa Lape San Nicolas. Parents-in-law Edward and Consolacion Taitague; brother-in-law Jesse Taitague.

Douglas is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lillian Taitague Lape; Children: Sherry & Roman Taijeron (Nyna, Christopher, Kadin) & grandchildren; Denise & Rodney Martinez (Simba); Valentina & Kevin Ignacio (Kyson, Ayvin); Douglas Jr. & Jherilyn Baza Lape (Ha’ani); Aprilynn & Tutii Tudong (Arhealynn, RJ).

Siblings: Dorothy & Frank (dec.) San Nicolas; Nora & Gerald (dec.) Ingersoll; Mildred Lape & Robert Cruz; Dedrick & Cheryl Lape; Florence & Joaquin Barcinas; Virginia Danner; Robert Dimmitt

In-laws: John & Ann Taitague; Fred & Fina Taitague; Eddie & Lorraine Taitague; Michael Taitague & Kathy Garlinghouse; Ivan & Linda Taitague; Dennis Taitague

Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and close friends.

Careers:

-U.S. Army with two combat tours in Vietnam. Also served in Germany, Colorado, and Hawaii.

-Pipe Fitter, Navy Shipyard in Washington

-Government of Guam PUAG/Guam Water Works (Retired)

Hobbies:

-Farming, fishing, carpentry, singing, listening to country oldies, traveling, exploring casinos with his wife

Douglas was an active member and supporter of the Chamorro community for many years.
