Janie Almanza Trevino went to be with her Lord, when she passed away at AdventHealth, Killeen, TX on June 28, 2019, after a lengthy battle with pneumonia, surrounded by her husband Jake, and loved ones. Janie was born on May 13, 1937 in New Braunfels, Texas to her late parents Natividad and Maria G. Almanza. After a career as a Nurse that spanned 40+ years, she retired in 2002.

She married Joaquin Trevino in San Antonio, Texas on January 9, 1957. Janie was a member of the St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Killeen, Texas where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, administering the sacraments of Holy Communion in church and the sacraments to those who are ill or otherwise unable to attend Mass; and devotedly prayed the rosary daily.

Survivors include her husband of Killeen; her son, David (fiancé Christina) of Ogden, Utah; one grandson, Daniel Trevino of Killeen; four granddaughters, Alexandra , Samantha, Stephanie and Simone Trevino of Ogden, Utah; three brothers, Herman Almanza of Los Angeles, California, Jesse Almanza and Oscar Almanza (Josephine) of San Antonio; and one sister, Margret Barrera of San Antonio. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Juan Almanza and Andy Serna of San Antonio, TX; and her grandson Brandon Trevino of Killeen, TX.

The viewing will be at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home, Killeen, TX on July 11, 2019 at 6:00pm-8:00pm with rosary ceremony at 7:00pm. Funeral Church service will be at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Killeen, TX on July 12, 2019 at 11:00am. Burial ceremony will follow at Texas Veteran’s Cemetery, Killeen, TX at 1:00pm. Janie’s life celebration will be at St Joseph’s Church rectory at 2:30pm, following the burial. In lieu of flowers, heartfelt donations to St Joseph’s Church in Janie’s name would be greatly appreciated.
