Larry J. Wright was born to the motherly guardianship of Emma Barrette, August 11, 1944, in Social Circle, Georgia. Throughout his earthly tenure, his life's journey was as unique as his God-given personality, tailor-made to fulfill his assigned purpose.
As a young man, he was drafted into the United States Army before earning his high school diploma. While on active duty, he completed his formal education and became a skilled Aircraft Mechanic. Larry was respected as a person of impeccable character, admirable skills, attentive to detail, and diligent in fulfilling his responsibilities throughout his military career. He received numerous commendations, citations, badges, medals, and accolades during his entire tour of duty. After serving his country for more than 20 years, Larry was honored to retire, resolving to make Killeen, Texas, his final place of residence.
The year 2005 was a most significant year for Larry. That year he met the woman he would discover to be the greatest fulfillment of a man's delight on earth in the precious personality of Margaret Hansel. The Lord navigated their steps together through her employment with AAFES and his enlistment in the Army. The two built a friendship that evolved into a long-term relationship. Their relationship ultimately blossomed into a lifetime bond. In the words of the scripture, Larry had finally found his “good thing.” Proverbs 18:22 says, “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing And obtaineth favour of the Lord.” On May 8, 2014, the two were formally pronounced husband and wife. Together they would spend the balance of his earthly tenure united as one.
Throughout his life, Larry's acknowledgment of the Lord through the witness of many conversations affirmed his knowledge and his ultimate resolve to settle his eternal destiny.
On the morning of April 16, 2021, Larry embraced the fruit of his resolve by answering the loving call of his Lord to exit the shores of this earthly realm. Now absent from the mortal body, Larry is present with the Lord.
Among those he leaves to honor the indelible impact of his life are his loving and loyal wife, Margaret Hansel Wright; two daughters, Burmenie Wright of Killeen, Texas and Mary Dowdell of Social Circle, Georgia; one son, Melvin Freeman of Social Circle, Georgia; two step-daughters, Marcella Anderson and Margery Jackson of Killeen, Texas; two sisters, Barbara Barrett of Atlanta, Georgia and Bobbie Barrett of Social Circle, Georgia; thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of other loved ones, relatives and friends.
His physical absence from this earthly realm will never diminish the honor of his life in this earthly realm. "We are confident, and willing rather to be absent from the body, to be present with the Lord." (2 Corinthians 5:8)
