Liselotte "Lilo" Musgrave

September 17, 1933 — September 29, 2022

Killeen, TX

Liselotte (Lilo) Musgrave, 89, passed peacefully from this life at her beloved home on Thursday, September 29, 2022. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 4 at Central Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery at 3 pm. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2 pm at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen.

Lilo was born on September 17, 1933, to August and Helena Janke in East Prussia. She suffered many atrocities of World War II. She never dwelled on her past, and very seldom spoke of it. At about 8 years of age, Lilo and her family made their way from East Prussia to Lithuania, eventually moving to Berlin. Later, Lilo and her mother followed her sister, Hildagard Tower, and husband, Anton, who had moved to Munich, Germany to work at a hotel.

Munich is where Lilo met the love of her life, Delbert Musgrave, and on July 27, 1961, they were married and started their military life journey. Lilo was a devoted and supportive wife who loved to cook. Delbert had various tours of duty in which he was gone for months.  She was left alone in a new country to manage their home and family responsibilities. Lilo was a strong person whose glass was always half full, never half empty.  She loved to play bingo and enjoyed spending time with people who gathered for a few hours of competition and fun. She was employed briefly for the owners of Automax as domestic help. Lilo loved to entertain friends at the house and was a very down-to-earth person and also spent time volunteering at the local DAV office helping disabled American Veterans.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; her parents; sister, Hildegard; brother, Willie; and sister-in law Deloris Berland.

Survivors include son, Robert Edward; sister, Erna Bubbat of Mylor, S. Australia; brother-in-law, Don Musgrave, and wife Jean of Portland, OR, brother-in-law Dallas Musgrave and wife, Rosalee of Lady Lake, FL, brother-in-law David Musgrave and wife, Carole of Lenexa, KS, brother-in-law Danny Musgrave of Arvada, CO, and brother-in-law Stephen Berland of Manhattan, KS.

A special “thank you” to Martha Green for all the love, care, and time she gave to Lilo.

Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 29, 607 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd., Harker Heights, TX  76548.
