Killeen

Mrs. Louise Christine Raymond, age 93, of Killeen, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, from 6 to 8 P.M. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020, 10:00 A.M., at Lifeway Fellowship church in Killeen.  A graveside service will be held afterward at Killeen Memorial Park.

Louise Christine was born on July 13, 1926 in the Wuethrich Hill Parsonage near Taylor, Texas to German immigrant parents, the Reverend Gottlieb Walter and mother Anna Antonie (Papke) Walter.  Her father pastored other rural Lutheran churches in South Texas.  She met her soldier in shining armor, Roy Lee Raymond, while staying with her brother John at Fort Brown, Texas.  They married on September 21, 1942, at Shiner, Texas.  Their union of 55+ years was blessed with 5 sons followed by a beloved bonus of one girl.

Louise was a beloved wife and mother who made a good home for her family.  After WWII the family went to Germany for Roy’s Army duty.  There her knowledge of the German language came in handy living among the locals for several years. On returning to the States and duty at Fort Hood the family settled at Fort Hood in 1952, then Killeen where she and Roy remained.  She served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her many roles:  homemaker, Sunday School teacher for 36 years at East Side Baptist Church, Cub Scout den mother, Explorer and Brownie leader, home visitor for the Killeen ISD.  In recent years she resided at Rosewood Assisted Living and joined Lifeway Fellowship church.

Her love for her family and her faith in her Savior remained strong and active throughout her life.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lydia Krieg, Mary Cook, Anna Krieg, brother John, husband Roy, son Roy David, and grandson Jeffrey Raymond.

She is survived by her family, son Joel and wife Judy Raymond of Arlington, Texas; son William and wife Bonnie Raymond of Killeen; son Bruce and wife Cathy Raymond of Killeen; son James Raymond of Carrollton, Texas; daughter Phoenix Morgaine of Belton; granddaughter Melissa and husband Steve Cooksey of Richardson, Texas; granddaughter Alison and husband David Bryant, with great-granddaughter Brittany, of Brownwood, Texas; granddaughter Jennifer Raymond of Austin; grandson William Raymond of Carrollton, Texas; granddaughter Rebecca Raymond of Killeen; and grandson Rory Raymond of Killeen.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be sent to Lifeway Fellowship or East Side Baptist churches, both of Killeen.,
