Margaret Landers

Margaret “Maurine” Landers, age 79, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022, in Killeen, Texas where she had lived for the past 6 years. She was born on July 2, 1942, in Austin, Texas. Maurine married Dr. William Franklin Landers on October 8, 1960. They remained married for 59 ½ years until Dr. Landers passed away in March of 2020. Maurine graduated from Texas Tech University in May 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in Elementary and Special Education. Maurine worked as a teacher for 27 years. She taught in Lubbock, San Antonio, and retired from Alief ISD in Houston. In 2003, Maurine was honored as Holub Middle School’s Teacher of the Year and went on to compete as a finalist in the entire district for Secondary Teacher of the Year. Maurine remained dedicated to working with children with disabilities for her entire career. Maurine is survived by two daughters—Alicia Landers Morford and Melanie Landers-Airey, two sons—Martin Clark Landers and Brian Limbaugh, and her sister, Barbara Reid Colgin. She is also survived by four grandchildren, two nieces, and two great-nieces. Funeral arrangements for Maurine Landers are being handled by Harper-Talasek.
