Mary Elizabeth Broadwater, 82, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at her home in Florence, TX, with her husband Donald Broadwater by her side.

Mary Elizabeth Boyd was born on September 6, 1939 to Fred and Mattie Boyd, in Gannon Community, Fisher County, Texas.

She grew up in Roscoe, Texas, and attended Roscoe High School where she played in the band and worked on the yearbook staff.

Mary continued her education at Oklahoma School of Business and Law in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She worked as a municipal analyst for bonds until her retirement in 1989.

Mary enjoyed playing the piano. While playing for a service at church, she met Donald Broadwater, a preacher and musician. They were married August 5, 2000 and served their Lord together in several area churches. Mary also enjoyed gardening and growing roses. She took great pleasure in growing her own vegetables in the large garden Don plowed for her each year.

Mary is preceded in death by her father, Fred Darrel Boyd, her mother, Mattie Elsie Fitzgerald Boyd, and brothers Darrell and Shorty Boyd .

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Donald Ray Broadwater; two daughters, VelvaDee Moore and husband Raymond, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Shareen Hainke, of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren Cody Moore, Ryan Moore and wife Rebecca, Brandon Hainke and wife Stacie, Christopher Hainke and wife Samantha, and Jenna Hainke and fiance’ Josh Wondra; great grandchildren Lane Moore, Justin, Jordan, and Bennett Hainke, several nieces and nephews, and special friends Eddie and Shelley Mathews.

The family requests that memorials be given to Altus Hospice in lieu of flowers.
