Mary Hughes

Mary C. Hughes, 76 of Killeen, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 22 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, beginning at 11 am. A visitation will be held the evening prior from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.

Mary was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late John Wesley Jones and Lucy Wallace on October 18, 1946. She was the youngest child born. She graduated from High School. Mary married Burnette Hughes Jr. of Chicago, IL, on August 15, 1988. They worked together for 20 years in the real estate industry, and they traveled extensively. While living in Country Club Hills, IL, they purchased their first home. Then moved to Las Vegas, NV where they purchased their second home and then moved to Merrillville, IN where she became ill, and they moved to Texas to be close to family.

She made valiant efforts to continue working with her husband in real estate and other related endeavors, but her extensive illness prevented her from participating. She was a real trooper and will be missed.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories husband, Burnette Hughes Jr.; 2 sons, Rodney Jones of Nebraska, and Keith B. Jones of Illinois; 1 sister of Decatur, GA; 4 grandchildren, 4 stepchildren that she loved dearly, and a host of nieces and nephews, along with personal special friends.
