Ruby Ogle

December 6, 1930 — August 27, 2019

Killeen

God carried Ruby Lee Pausewang Ogle to heaven early Tuesday morning,

August 27, 2019; as she claimed her life’s philosophy “I may wear out but I will not rust out”.

Ruby was born in Holland, Texas, December 6, 1930, to Paul and Katie Pausewang, welcomed by brother, Logan.  She attended and graduated from Academy and Holland schools.  She was baptized by Pastor LB Parks as a teenager.   Her love for people led her to beauty college in Austin.  Upon graduating, this young beautician began “making women beautiful” while calling it “work” at Exa’s Beauty Salon and later at the Magic Mirror in Killeen, with her lifelong “sister friends”, Sondra and Helga, whom she loved so dearly and who loved her.

Ruby married Jim Levy in 1956, joining the Levy family that she grew to love and who have loved her for these many years.

On August 25, 1970, Joe Ogle and Ruby were married, joining the Ogle family from Georgia, gaining 4 precious children: Glenda, Linda, Brenda and Joe Dennis, who warmly welcomed her and have tenderly loved her these past 49 years.

Upon Joe’s retirement from the US Army at Ft. Huachuca, AZ, the couple made their home on “Ogle’s Acres” in Harker Heights, becoming involved with neighbors, NCO activities, VFD, deer hunting, fishing, boating, annual swine fests, dancing, family celebrations, traveling, caring for black poodles-Runt, Sugar, Prissy, then later their Cove and Kyle; pets who brought them so much joy.  Once again, through activities and her vocation, Ruby shared life with those she loved and who loved her.

After Joe moved to heaven in 1997, Ruby’s love for others continued through work, travel, fellowship and her church.  Many special memory-making trips, casino or cruises, with Logan, cousin Debbie, roommate Mariko; remaining on “Ogle’s Acres” until her Tortuga home in Killeen was available.  She delighted in moving herself, Cove and Kyle even though it was difficult to say goodbye to special friends, Jeanette, Bob and Connie .

Her beautician “work” continued as she cared for her ladies until 2016 when she no longer renewed her license.  Perhaps her sweetest tribute to customers was to “fix their hair” for the last time after they went to heaven.  Hours were then filled with volunteering-bereavement committee at church; supporting Salvation Army Christmas Drive with Virginia; Gut Club; playing games at the Senior Center many days.  Her Friday nights were committed to fellowship, food and playing cards with Sondra, Mary, Shirley, Evelyn, Faye, Julie, Pat, Debbie.  Monthly Bunco was also enjoyed as through all activities she loved each lady and they loved her.

For the past 19 months, Ruby made it her mission to “enlist prayer warriors” into Scout’s Army and share a pink bracelet.  God allowed her love for this precious little girl, Scout, Bretton, Haley and Samson, to be shared freely as she told about their cancer journey.  How Miss Scoutie loved her “Aunt Wruby”!

In April, Ruby moved to Taylor SPJST Assisted Living, across the hall from her brother.  Saying goodbye to precious Killeen friends who she loved and who loved her was hardest of all. These past 4.5 months have allowed her and Logan to enjoy coffee many mornings, Wheel of Fortune most evenings, church on Sundays at The Quarries, yet leaving her time for 42 and other games with new friends she quickly grew to love.

Ruby’s life has been 88 years 8 months full…her smiling eyes always cheerful…her spunky personality always determined…her love for God and others always freely shared…how greatly she will be missed by those who know this love and have so loved her.

Preceded in death by husband, Jim Levy; husband, Joe Ogle; parents, Paul and Katie Pausewang; sister in law, Imola Pausewang; niece and nephew, Brenda and Mike Boland; step-daughter, Brenda Heckman.

Left with sweet memories of her love:

Her Texas family-brother, Logan Pausewang; niece and nephew, Betty and Barney Schulz; 4 “grandchildren”; 6 “great grandchildren”; cousins, Debbie Young, Gladys Woods, Linda Boyett, Gordon and Carla Underwood.

Her Georgia family-children, Glenda and Bob Haggard, Linda and Don Rountree, Joe Dennis Ogle, Charles Ogle, and Grady Ogle; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren.

We thank God for the love and care given Ruby by each saint at the SPJST Assisted Living.
