“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.” ~Proverbs 31:1-12

Obituary

Shirley Ruth Neblett-Wiggins was born to Beatrice and James Neblett on November 2, 1945, in Bryan, Texas. She professed her love for Christ at an early age at West Union Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor E.L. Johnson. She attended Fairview Elementary School and graduated from E.A. Kemp High School in 1964.

Shirley united in Holy matrimony with Willie Wiggins on November 11, 1967. To their union, Barbara Elaine and Bridget Evonne were born. As a military family, they traveled to places such as Alaska, Japan, New Mexico, Del Rio, Austin and currently Killeen, Texas. She was a homemaker, a dutiful military wife, a caregiver, and a fantastic cook. She was known to host her extended family on the holidays.

Shirley was a faithful and dedicated minister’s wife and First Lady serving beside Willie in ministry for over 30 years. She was very proud of her work in the “Clown Ministry” and the “Prison Ministry”. She had one of the most angelic voices that you could ever imagine. Growing up she sang with her sisters and cousin in the Ebenezer singing group. In her former years, she was known to sing a song of praise before and/or after her husband preached the gospel.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Beatrice Neblett; siblings Albert Neblett, Leonard Neblett, Lola Neblett Monroe, Minnie Neblett Smith, Ellan Neblett Wilson; nieces Jackie Neblett and Barbara Neblett Clark.

She is survived by her husband, Willie Wiggins, two daughters, Barbara Elaine and Bridget Evonne; three sisters, Naomi Johnson, Velma Spivey and Doris Guyden (Robert); daughter in Christ Tracy Epting, and a host of nieces and nephews.
