Thurman Kinsey

Thurman Lee Kinsey, 79, of Killeen, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 4th, at Temple Veterans Administrator Hospital, with his daughter, Sonya, by his side.

Thurman was born on January 31, 1944, to McKinley and Nettie Kinsey in Sibley, Louisiana.

Thurman displayed a caring and kind personality from a young age, attracting many with his lively spirit.

As a graduate of Webster High School, in 1963 Thurman got married to his High School sweetheart, Earnestine, in March and from this union, they were blessed with one beautiful daughter named Sonya. Thurman and Earnestine were married for 58 wonderful years until her passing. Thurman proudly served in the United States Army for over ten years, traveling around the world with his wife and daughter in support of the military. After completing his military career, he worked for over 38 years in construction retiring from Lhoist North America.

Thurman is survived by his daughter, Sonya; his adopted daughter, Brenda Harris; his adopted son, Frederick Anderson and his wife Leiza; one brother, Henry Kinsey and his wife Annie; one sister, Ruby Stien Jackson; and his grandsons, Kenneth Phelps Jr., Stephen Gregory, Frederick Santiago, and Stephen Anderson; great-grandchildren, Ava and Alex Santiago; numerous nieces and nephews; and his friendly companion, Jax.

Thurman is preceded in death by his soul mate, Earnestine; his parents, McKinley and Nettie Kinsey; brothers, Ardis (Ernestine) Kinsey, Jonah Kinsey Sr., and McKinley Kinsey Jr.

A funeral will be held on May 10th, 2023, at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery at 10:00a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Epilepsy Foundation Texas – Houston, Texas Thurman felt strongly about.
